Onward to Minnesota - our first workamping job

Our first workamping adventure started on May 15, 2012, taking us a week to get to St. Croix River Resort in Minnesota, which is about 5 miles west of Danbury, Wisconsin, just over the St. Croix River in Minnesota. Our first stop was Chattanooga, TN to Camping World to get new tires put on the trailer. From there we headed up through Tennessee and into Kentucky. Stopped at Bardstown, Kentucky to visit the Heaven Hill plant for a tour.

NASA Space Center, Houston, Texas

In November 2011, we traveled from Atlanta to Houston to visit with Josh, Karen, Ellie & Jason for Thanksgiving week. We did not take our trailer since we stayed at Josh & Karen's. While there we visited the NASA Space Center. What a fantastic place to visit. There are two sections to the facility, and Jim has an interesting story about that and his sword cane, which I will tell later in this blog.

North Carolina Winter Vacation

On December 26, 2010 we drove up to Barb Mars’ house. We got there about 5:30pm after waiting for the weather to get better. Atlanta had a snow/ice storm with freezing temps and accidents even on the interstates. Pulled into Weaverville in a snow blizzard and a foot of snow. I stopped at the shopping center at the end of her street; Jim locked the wheels into 4 wheel drive and drove the rest of the way down Dula Springs Road in 4-wheel drive. Lots of snow – trailer would never have made it.

Grayton Beach State Park, Florida

Jim and I went to Grayton Beach State Park in the panhandle of Florida from New Years Eve until Tuesday, January 5, 2010. What a beautiful park - very typical of the state parks in Florida that we have stayed at. The sites are private with palmetto and trees in between the sites, giving one lots of privacy. This park has trails cut through the center to each site so you can get to the facilities fairly easily. They have an old section and a new section but the new section does not have the privacy like the old section. Jim had an awful time backing in to the site we reserved (23) -- it was on a curve and there were trees across the road that partially blocked him from backing in. I had to ask the people across from us to move their truck so Jim could pull into their site just to have enough room to back into ours. He was about to give up when a couple of other campers came and helped him back in.

Colorado Family Vacation ~~ July 2004

July 2004 took us back to Colorado to attend the POA meeting of Silver Spurs Ranch. First long trip for the RV and we really enjoyed it. Figured it cost us over $800 in gas for the two week trip though -- our Excursion is a gas hog. It took three days out and three days back, which sure takes a lot of time out of the vacation.

Our First RV Trip, Tallulah Gorge & Barb's House

We took our first real trip in the RV the last week of December 2003. Bill & Julie Mars came to Atlanta on December 27 with their Airstream and on Sunday we all left for Tallulah Gorge in the north Georgia mountains and spent the night.

Colorado Family Vacation ~~ July 2001

In July 2001 we took another vacation to Colorado, this time taking our other nephew Justin, one of Jack and Debi's sons. Leaving from Stone Mountain, Georgia we had two weeks to cover a lot of miles.
