The Alamo; San Antonio Riverwalk, Texas

Since we are so close to San Antonio, we decided to venture downtown to visit The Alamo.  We did not stay all day as parking was $12 for only three hours, and we did not want to pay extra for more hours.  Luckily the parking lot was close to The Alamo.

Frontier Times Museum, Bandera, Texas

We visit Bandera, Texas when we stay at a Thousand Trails campground in Lakehills, Texas. Bandera has museums, the cowboy store (where Jim bought his Stetson), jewelry stores, along with a small park along the river. This time we visited the Frontier Times Museum.

Iwo Jima Monument, Harlingen, Texas

The Marine Corps War Memorial stands as a symbol of this grateful Nation's esteem for the honored dead of the U.S. Marine Corps.  While the statute depicts one of the most famous incidents of WWII, the memorial is dedicated to all Marines who have given their lives in the defense of the United States since 1775.

We listened to a brief description of how the statute came to be in Texas, then watched a short movie about Iwo Jima.
